  • Lyn Health Launches New Oncology Program to Provide Enhanced Care Experience for Cancer Patients

With the expansion of Lyn’s clinical delivery model, people with cancer and other comorbid conditions receive an enhanced, holistic care experience.

SEATTLE, August 17, 2022 – Lyn Health, a pioneering healthcare start-up focused on people with multiple chronic conditions, today announced the launch of a multi-disciplinary care experience for patients with cancer and other comorbidities.

In 2021, an estimated 1.9 million Americans received a new cancer diagnosis. According to the National Cancer Institute (NCI), the top four cancers—lung, colorectal, breast and prostate—have rates of comorbidity ranging from approximately 31%-53%. Disparate and disintegrated approaches to managing the totality of the patient’s needs exacerbate comorbid diagnoses, cause additional emotional and financial stressors, and reduce the overall quality of care. Lyn is poised to solve this problem.

“Over the past year, it has become clear that Lyn needed to contemplate a more holistic healthcare experience for cancer patients,” said Rick Abbott, Co-founder and CEO of Lyn. “While many cancer patients have an oncologist guiding them through that diagnosis and treatment, many people experience additional burdens outside of oncological care. Lyn’s care model—inclusive of 24/7 medical and behavioral health support, social services support, and advocacy services—can serve as additional support for patients with complex clinical need.”

Lyn’s Care Circle—a multi-disciplinary team of physicians, clinicians and patient support advocates—takes an individualized approach for each member. Lyn’s frictionless model collaborates with and enhances the existing care plans for oncology patients. With a relentless focus on unburdening members, Lyn can ensure a higher-quality, more personalized experience for people managing multiple chronic conditions.

“Lyn’s oncology program builds upon our initial learnings from managing our first generation of patients,” said Thirath Chau, Chief Medical Officer of Lyn. “Our collaborative care model has demonstrated that we can have enormous impacts on our members from a medical, behavioral health, social services and financial perspective. With employers seeking more progressive solutions to tackle this critical healthcare need, we felt a moral imperative to bring this program to market.”
